Who are we?

We’re over rubbish workshops.

You know the ones…people talking over each other, clichéd icebreakers, pre-set outcomes, big egos drowning out the quieter voices, sleepy slides and coffee breaks that feel like salvation!

We decided enough was enough.

Instead of tolerating another wasted session,
we built No Umbrellas to do it differently.

HOW WE STARTED

After countless conversations across industries about the struggles of how teams can work better together, we sat down and looked at how to rethink team collaboration. Our first solutions were around improving the collaboration of mixed generations teams – we’ve delivered many workshops on this subject but realised the learnings from getting generations to work together also help all teams improve dynamics and productivity. And we have gone on to add other services and support to make a package to include talks, facilitating, research and ongoing programs to build your best team.

All our work comes from increased understanding between colleagues and with managers. Both sides (managers and team members) have very valid frustrations, but the problem we’ve found is that the frustrations remain within the individual groups instead of being shared and actioned. Which is where our programs come in, bringing your teams together to better understand how individuals want to be managed and supported.

We work with teams to identify problems, understand differences using the latest research and facilitate interactive workshops that spark curious discussions, meaningful connections and team-led solutions to better ways of working.

WHY NO UMBRELLAS?

Don’t get us wrong, we love an umbrella the problem is they close you off, stop you interacting with the environment, looking up and seeing the beauty of the day.

Our name comes from the idea of people bringing an “Umbrella to a Brainstorm”. No Umbrellas is about leaving yourself exposed, to being vulnerable and available to new ideas – after all you can’t grow anything without some rainfall.

All our workshops, keynotes and sessions are backed by research and data from

HOW WE WORK

Our sessions are built around better questions, not pre-set answers.

Tailored, not templated
No two teams are the same. That’s why every workshop is different. Grounded in your goals, your dynamics and your context.

Research-backed, action-focused
We bring the latest insights from research studies and translate them into tools your team can actually use.

Psychologically safe, strategically uncomfortable
We create space for honesty, curiosity and challenge without putting people on the spot. Discomfort is welcome, but never weaponized.

Facilitation-first
We don’t rely on heavy slides or scripts. We rely on presence, listening and the ability to shift gears when the energy changes.

We don’t do perfect. We do progress
Our goal isn’t a perfect workshop. It’s a meaningful one where something shifts and your team leaves with clarity, connection and next steps.

No Umbrellas
Umbrellas shield us from the good stuff - ideas, tension, truth. So we leave them at the door and invite teams to do the same.

It’s an easy fix once you’ve run a
No Umbrellas workshop
